Hiroshi Nagao (piano) Hiroshi Nagao, piano
Completed master's course at Tokyo University of the Arts and its graduate school. Received the Ataka Prize. Studied under Yushi Munehiro, Michiko Endo, and Jiro Yometani. In 1995, studied abroad at Ecole Normale de Paris. After returning to Japan, he performed with major orchestras such as the NHK Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, and Osaka Symphony Orchestra. In addition to giving solo recitals, numerous national and international premieres, and appearances at major music festivals, Michel Becke (trombone), Eric Obie (trumpet), Jean-Yves Fourmaud (saxophone), Pavel Berman (violin). His activities are diverse, such as co-starring with domestic and foreign wind and string players. CDs include "Evocacion", "Hiroshi Nagao Plays Ravel & Debussy" (Live Notes), "Messiaen: The Illusion of Amen (2 Pianos / Co-starring: Ami Fujiwara)", "Playing Liszt & Reger" (Kojima Recording), etc. release. He is one of the few musicians who can deliver very fresh music with a transparent, core and beautiful sound, and precise and elaborate techniques. Associate professor at Kunitachi College of Music and part-time lecturer at Tokyo University of the Arts.
