Born in 1961, Toshiya Suzuki is a distinguished recorder player renowned for his innovative contributions to the instrument's repertoire and performance techniques. He honed his craft at the Amsterdam Swerink Conservatory, studying under esteemed recorder masters Kazuo Hanaoka and Walter van Hauwe.
Throughout his illustrious career, Suzuki has been at the forefront of contemporary recorder music, collaborating closely with renowned composers such as L. Kohli, B. Ferneyhough, L. Francesconi, Keiko Harada, Toshio Hosokawa, Hiroyuki Ito, Hitoshi Nakamura, Ichiro Nodaira, U. Loiko, S. Sciarino, G. Staepler, and Joji Yuasa. His dedication to expanding the possibilities and technologies of the recorder has led to the premieres of numerous groundbreaking works.
Suzuki's performances have graced prestigious venues and festivals worldwide, including "Vienna Modern," "Zurich New Music Day," "Darmstadt Summer Course," "ISCM World Music Days," "Takefu International Sound Festival," and many more.
