[Lecturer Introduction]
Megumi Kanda (Trombone/Principal of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra)
Born in Nagoya in 1975. Started playing the trombone at the age of 10. From the age of 13, he studied trombone under Sumio Miwa (NHK Symphony Orchestra, Toho Gakuen). 1993 Received 1st prize at the 1st Japan Trombone Competition and the Chairman's Award of the Japan Brass Band Association. After graduating from the music department of Toho Girls' High School in 1994, she moved to the United States.
Studied under James Desano (principal trombonist of the Cleveland Orchestra) at the Cleveland Conservatory of Music.
After graduating from the Conservatory of Music in 1997 at the top of his class, he served as principal of the Albany Symphony Orchestra in New York, the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, and a lecturer at the Eastman School of Music.
He is also actively performing solo activities such as recitals and concertos and master classes around the world, and has performed as a soloist with numerous orchestras such as the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, the Prague Chamber Orchestra, and the United States Military Band.
He has many commissioned works and is regularly invited as a guest at the International Trombone Festival.
In terms of recordings, Victor Entertainment has released three solo albums and a concert live recording "Magnifique Live", and his book "The One Hundred", a textbook for orchestral studies, has been published by Encore Publishing.
She has received the Arion Award Encouragement Award from the Arion Music Foundation, was also commended by the Consul General of Japan in Chicago, and was recognized by Business Journal as the most influential woman in Milwaukee in 2017.
In her private life, she is struggling with her husband, Dietrich, who is a horn player, as the mother of three sons and three cats.
My hobby is garden work. The instrument used is Greenhoe GC4-1R.
