Chiharu Taguchi

After studying at Tokyo University of the Arts Music High School, graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts Faculty of Music, Department of Instrumental Music. Completed master's course at the same university.
Born in Sapporo City. Started playing the piano at the age of 4, and received encouragement prizes in the elementary school and junior high school divisions of the All Japan Students Mainichi Music Competition. Received the 22nd Nippon Cultural Broadcasting Music Award. Won the gold prize at the 29th Viotti International Music Competition in Italy. Studied under Beveridge Webster at the Juilliard School in New York. Trained at Salzburg Mozarteum Conservatory. So far, he has studied under Michiko Endo, Akiko Iguchi, Hiroshi Tamura, Mietsislaf Munz, Puig Roger, and George Chandor. He has performed with the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Shinsei Japan Symphony Orchestra, Sapporo Symphony Orchestra, etc. Appeared in NHK Afternoon Recital, Cultural Broadcasting, etc. 1983 Held a recital at Carnegie Hall in New York. Highly rated by the New York Times. Held recitals in New York, Massachusetts, etc., and received favorable reviews. After returning to Japan, he has given recitals and concerts in various places.
Recently, he has been producing CDs of live recordings of recitals at Casals Hall (details can be found on pianist Chiharu Taguchi's official website), as well as performing and explaining various piano pieces at public lectures. “Charm of Piano” “Duo and Solo” concert held at Yokohama Museum of History. Currently, in addition to teaching juniors at Ueno Gakuen University Junior College, he also serves as a judge for competitions.
