Profile

Born in Kanagawa Prefecture in 1977. Started playing the piano at the age of 5. While enrolled at Toho Gakuen University, he won the 1st prize in the 7th Suita Music Competition Piano Division in 1996, and the 1st prize in the 68th Music Competition of Japan in 1999. He also received the Masuzawa Prize, Nomura Prize, Iguchi Prize, and Kawai Prize. After graduating from the same university, he studied abroad at the Mannes Conservatory of Music in the United States. Since 2001, he has been enrolled in the Hungarian State Liszt Conservatory. Currently studying at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome, Italy. During his studies so far, he has received grants from the Rohm Music Foundation, the Meiji Yasuda Quality of Life Cultural Foundation, and the Agency for Cultural Affairs' Overseas Study Program for Upcoming Artists.
2nd prize in the 2nd Sendai International Music Competition (2004), 1st prize in the AMA Calabria International Piano Competition (Italy) in 2005, 1st prize in the Maria Callas Grand Prix (Greece) in 2006, Liszt International Piano Competition He has won numerous prizes and first prizes in international competitions, including 2nd prize in Weimar (Germany) and 2nd prize in the 2008 Montreal International Music Competition Piano Division (Canada). In 2004, he won the 53rd Kanagawa Cultural Award and Future Award.
He has performed in recitals and music festivals not only in Japan but also in Italy, Holland, Portugal, Germany and other European countries. Solo recitals at the 2005 Coimbra International Music Festival in Portugal and the 2007 Wagner Music Festival in Germany, and concerts in Tokyo, Hiroshima, Kyoto, and Ishikawa in November and December 2008, and in Tokyo and Hiroshima in 2009. Well received. He has performed with well-known conductors and orchestras both in Japan and abroad, and has received high acclaim. In 2009, he was awarded the Presidential Prize of the Italian Republic [Prize Sinopoli] and attended the award ceremony at the Presidential Palace.
So far, he has studied under Masako Tsujii, the late Yoshiki Moriyasu, Nobuyoshi Kato, Jerome Rose, Georges Nardre, and Sergio Perticaroli.
