Mayumi Hama, marimba

Graduated from Toho Gakuen University Music Department Performance Department Percussion Department Marimba major at the top of the class. After completing the graduate school at the same university, studied abroad at the University of Michigan Percussion Department Graduate School. 1999, 2nd place at the 2nd World Marimba Competition.
Co-starring with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, NHK, NHK Educational Television, Percussive Arts Society (International Percussion Arts Association) Convention, The New Music / Research Day “Time for Marimba” as an invited performer and panelist. He has been invited to perform at numerous domestic festivals such as the World Marimba Festival (Osaka), The Art of Migration, and TUTTI New Music Festival. While performing, he has performed at universities in various countries such as University of California, Davis (USA), University of Michigan (USA), Chiapas State University of Arts and Sciences (Mexico), National Kaohsiung Normal University (Taiwan), and Tokai University (Taiwan). I am doing a masterclass. Served as a jury member at the 1st Latin American Marimba Competition - Inviting Professor Keiko Abe - and performed at the Japan-Mexico Exchange Concert (Mexico). Performed at the Universal Marimba Festival (Belgium), Taipei International Percussion Convention (Taiwan), and the 6th World Marimba Competition Stuttgart 2012 (Germany) as a member of Marimba Ensemble Japan (MEJ). (One Foundation) As a registered artist of regional creation, outreach and concerts are held all over the country.
The solo CD "Soundscapes" includes the following: "Mayumi Hama is an extraordinary marimba player. She possesses impeccable technique and sophisticated expressiveness, as well as an extraordinary ability to control dynamics and timbre. —American Record Guide—" I have heard some wonderful works by marimba artists, but Hama's work is top of the list, and her precision and expressive spirituality are equally astonishing. -Percussive Notes-" etc., has received high praise from various magazines. In 2010, released the marimba duo CD "The Breath of the Tree".
He studied marimba under Keiko Abe and Michael Udow, and percussion under Kyoichi Sano and Michael Gould.

Christopher Froh, percussion

Percussionist Christopher Flo has promoted the creation of new music through acclaimed performances and energetic lectures, and has performed with the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players, the Empyrean Ensemble, Rootstock Percussion, and the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra. As a member of , he has premiered more than 100 chamber music and solo works by composers from 15 countries.
He has also performed with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra at Carnegie Hall, performed with the Balinese performing arts group Gamelan Sekar Jaya at the Stem Grove Festival, and recorded video games with the American film production company Skywalker Ranch. engages in a wide variety of activities.
He has released recordings with the San Francisco Symphony on the SFS Media label, as a soloist on Albany Records, Innova Recordings, and Equilibrium Records, and as a chamber musician on the Bridge Records and Music@Menlo Live labels.
He has been invited as a soloist to the Beijing Contemporary Music Festival, Nuovi Spazi Musicali, and Music@Menlo, and has performed at many festivals and recitals in Japan, China, Turkey, Europe, and the United States. He studied at the University of Michigan, the Eastman School of Music, and Toho Gakuen University, where he studied under marimba pioneer Keiko Abe. He currently teaches percussion and chamber music at the University of California, Davis and California State University, Sacramento.
