Yu Tamaki - trombone

With Europe and Japan as the stage, he is engaged in borderless activities such as solo, orchestral, chamber music, human resource development, and writing. Since 2013, Associate Principal Trombonist of the South Danish Philharmonic Orchestra.

1980 Born in Ashiya City, Hyogo Prefecture
Started playing trombone in 1993 at the age of 12
In 1999, graduated from Hyogo Prefectural Nishinomiya High School Music Department. Studied under Mr. Hiroo Yamashita
Joined PMF in 2002. He is the principal player under the direction of Charles Dutoit.
In 2003, he graduated from the Faculty of Music, Kyoto City University of Arts. Studied under Professor Shinichi Kure. Appeared in the university graduation concert, Kansai newcomer concert, Yamaha newcomer concert, etc. Participated in Seiji Ozawa Music Academy Opera Project IV.
2004 Moved to the United States alone and moved to Chicago

From 2012 to 2013, he was dispatched to Bern, Switzerland as a scholarship student of the Agency for Cultural Affairs. Studied under Professor Ian Bousfield at the Bern University of the Arts. Received the highest award (Auszeichnung) upon completion.

As for his award history, he is the first Japanese brass instrument player to win two prizes in two competitions that are members of the World Federation of International Music Competitions, as well as two of the largest competitions in Japan. 7 judges unanimously won 1st place in the trombone section of the 26th Japan Wind and Percussion Competition, the 45th Markneukirchen International Instrumental Music Competition (Germany) trombone section diploma, the 6th Jeju International Brass Instrument Competition ( Korea) 2nd place in the tenor trombone section, 2nd place in the brass instrument section at the 8th Tokyo Music Competition, and many other awards.
As a soloist, he has performed with the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo New City Orchestra, Tokyo Kosei Wind, and others. He has performed works by Tomasi, Martin, Bourgeois, Frumeri, Rimsky-Korsakov, Gilman, Naoto Yamaguchi (world premiere, commissioned by Kosei Wind), Appermont and others. So far, he has held 10 solo recitals in Tokyo, Osaka, the United States, and Switzerland.
We are also focusing on the field of education, and have developed seminars and clinics all over Japan. Since 2014, based on his experiences in Japan, the United States, and Europe, and the skills and knowledge he has acquired, he has regularly held workshops in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya to develop professional players. For the first term, Mr. Ian Bousfield was invited as a special lecturer. In 2016, the third term, it was held at the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan sponsored by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.

2012 one-point lesson (12 times in total), 2014-2016 column "Challenge the world! ~Catch your dreams without borders" is a popular series (30 times in total) in Band Journal magazine (Ongakunotomosha) . Feature articles are published in Pipers magazine (Sugihara Shoten) No. 290, No. 356, No. 359, No. 369, No. 401. Yamaha Music Media has supervised and published a collection of trombone repertoire Yu Tamaki's Disney works (CD with music score) and a concert repertoire (music score) of Japanese masterpieces of trombone.
Formed the trombone duo "Tamashimizu" with Mayumi Shimizu (Principal of the Southwest German Radio Symphony Orchestra). Her debut recital in 2011 (Kioi Hall) and performances in three cities in 2012 were successful, and in 2012 she won the Baroquesaal Award at the 22nd Aoyama Music Awards. Commissioned works by Toshio Mashima and Naoto Yamaguchi.
