Profile

Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts music department. Selected for the 38th Japan Music Competition while in school. Received the Ataka Prize in 1971. 1973 Kreutzer Prize winner. Graduated from the same graduate school in 1975. Studied at the North West German Academy of Music in Detmold, West Germany. The following year, he studied under Mr. K-Silde at the Berlin Academy of Music.

1977 Long-Thibaud International Competition 2nd prize. In 1978, he participated in W-Kempf's Beethoven lecture in Positano, Italy. In 1979, he performed with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra. From 1978 to 1980, he worked as an assistant at the Berlin University of the Arts, and by the time he returned to Japan in 1982, he had performed throughout Europe.

He has performed with the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, Sakkyo Symphony Orchestra, and the Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra, performed on tour with the NHK Symphony Orchestra, and participated in performances by Germany's Bach Solisten in Japan. He is active not only as a soloist but also as a chamber musician.

Currently an associate professor at the Faculty of Music, Tokyo University of the Arts.
