Hikaru Yamanaka, violinStarted playing the violin at the age of 5. Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts after attending Toho Gakuen's "Music Class for Children" and Tokyo University of the Arts High School. Received the Ataka Award while in school. Selected for the 42nd Japan Music Competition. Received the 26th Cultural Broadcasting Music Award. Paganini International Competition "Diploma". Held nine recitals. He has been the principal player of the Tokyo Vivaldi and the New Vivaldi Ensemble. From 1990 to 1999, he served as concertmaster of Shinsei Nikkyo. He studied violin under Chuichi Takasugi, Ryosaku Kubota, Tatsuo Totsuka, and Kosaku Yamaoka, and chamber music under Fumiki Asatsuma, Shuya Matsushita, and Yoshio Unno. After working with the Iso String Quartet for many years, he is now a member of the Tokyo Beethoven Quartet and the New Adonis String Quartet. He is also active as a guest concertmaster for the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra and the Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra. Lecturer at Musashino Academia Musicae.
