Thomas Bauer Profile

Uta Hielscher, piano

Born in Tokyo. Received piano education from a young age and studied under Mikiko Nakamura. Studied piano with Michael Schaefer, Lieder accompaniment with Helmut Deutsch, Siegfried Mauser and Wolfram Rieger, and chamber music with Monika Leonhard at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich, Germany. He has won awards at the German Music Competition, the International Chamber Music Competition (Pavia), and the Aoyama Music Foundation. He is active not only as a song accompanist, but also as a chamber musician. Together with Thomas Bauer, he performed with Liederabend at the Schlesig-Holstein Festival, Schubertiade, Bozen, Italy, and Santo, France. Released songs by Schumann, R. Strauss and Mahler from Naxos and Arsmusici. In particular, the accompaniment of Schumann's collection of songs "Poet's Love" has been highly evaluated. The Kulturwald Festspiele, which he and Thomas Bauer started in 2008 with the aim of bringing good music and art to their home region of Lower Bavaria, holds several concerts each year. In 2012, he invited Thomas Bauer (baritone) and Dietrich Borchmeier (narrator) to perform Johannes Brahms's "Beautiful Magerone". Appears in Rubens (soprano) and Lieder Abend. In February 2014, he received the Wilhelm Hausenstein Honorary Award from the Bayerische Akademie Schoenerkuenste in Bavaria, in recognition of his achievements in holding a music festival that brings art closer to people since 2007. He is currently the secretary general of the Kulturwald Festspiel Bayerischer Wald in Lower Bavaria, Germany.
