* Among the hundreds of recordings by the great conductors of the 20th century,
You won't find anything like this! ( March 2000 ) _
A memorial concert in a church dedicated to Andrzej Hjorski of the Lodz Philharmonic. Two timeless classics have been chosen to honor the king of Polish baritone singers. The conductor is Noh Imamura, who represents Japan. The award-winner of many competitions presented us with an unprecedented and original interpretation of Schubert's Symphony No. 8 in B minor, known as the "Unfinished " .
Imamura Noh presented the audience with exquisitely beautiful and sad songs filled with longing, unfathomable mystery, and emotion. I have never heard the first movement so captivating , so to speak, a completely "completed" performance. Among the hundreds of recordings by the greatest conductors of the 20th century, you won't find anything like this !
This much slower tempo setting continued in the performance of Szymanowski's Stabat Mater as well. By stretching the phrases as far as the singer could sing them in one breath, we got an absolutely astonishing, lively expression and an inspired beauty beyond imagination.
