Profile

Akiko Samejima (piano)

After graduating from Toho Gakuen University in 1985, moved to France. In 1986, he passed the École Normale Musique Conservatoire in Paris at the top of his class, and at the same time won the highest award unanimously by the judges. The following year, he passed the concertist qualification examination at the same conservatory and was given a recital at Salle Cortot. In 1989, he won the 2nd prize at the Saint-Non-la-Breteche International Competition and the best performance of the repertoire at the same time.
Studied piano under Hiroko Karashima, Sadako Matsuoka, Vlad Perlemuter, Frans Clida, and Jean-François Esser, and chamber music under Akira Miyoshi, Miyoko Yamane, Serge Hurel, and Serge Corot.
He returned to Japan in the autumn of 1989 after performing recitals, chamber music, radio recordings, and vocal accompaniment at the Schola Cantorum Music School in France, mainly in Paris. He is active in a wide range of activities, including assistant pianist at the Kusatsu International Summer Music Academy & Festival, co-starring with domestic and foreign musicians, chamber music and recitals in Korea and Malaysia, and visiting China as a member of the Japanese cultural delegation.
2000 and 2006 recitals at Tokyo Bunka Kaikan. From 2001 to 2006, he held a series of 10 "Afternoon Fureai Concerts" in his hometown of Yokohama. Spreading the charm of classical music while interweaving solo, chamber music, and talk, gaining many fans. Since 2008, she has held recitals with a theme every time under the title of "Pneuma Series" at Yokohama Minatomirai Hall. Since 2013, he has performed annually in solo and chamber music concerts at Nagahama Hall in Yokohama.
In addition to being a practical instructor at Toho Gakuen University's "Music School for Children" Kamakura Yokohama School, he also serves as an audition and competition judge, and as a public lesson instructor. He develops total lessons that pursue the connections between individual physical techniques, sensations, and thoughts for a wide range of age groups on a daily basis, and the motto is "Difficult things are easy, easy things are deep, deep things are fun!"
So far, he has released Mozart and Chopin CDs. It was highly evaluated as a special edition and a recommended edition in each music paper.
