Profile

Genzo Kitamura, trumpet

trumpet player. A friend of the NHK Symphony Orchestra, president of the Japan Trumpet Association. Born in Kyoto.

Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts. In 1960, he joined the NHK Symphony Orchestra and served as the principal for the next 25 years. In 1962, while enrolled in the NHK Symphony Orchestra, he studied at the Vienna State Academy as an Austrian government scholarship student. Studied under Professor Josef Levora. Won 1st prize in the wind instrument category at the 27th Music Competition of Japan. 2000 Invited Lecturer at Osaka College of Music. In 2002, he chaired the 20th anniversary trumpet competition of the Japan Trumpet Association and was a judge of the 19th Japan Wind and Percussion Competition.
